ConnectCounty to set up department in UKM
MESDAQ-bound ConnectCounty Holdings
Bhd (CCHB) plans to invest RM500,000 to set up a new development
department in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia's (UKM) Institute
of Microengineering and Nanoeletronics (Imen).
The investment, sealed at a recent signing
of a memorandum of understanding between UKM and CCHB, is
to furnish the Imen centre with high-end equipment and software
to create and test new products in cables and connectors.
"We see this investment as a long-term
relationship with UKM. In our business where high level
engineering expertise is constantly required, we see this
collaboration as a prospective avenue for sharing resources
and exchanging knowledge on high technology engineering,"
group managing director of CCHB Ang Chuang Juay said in
a statement.
The new department will eventually serve
as a centre for students' practical training outside a controlled
lab.
"We are currently concentrating in a
very niche area of the industry where our expertise lies.
We are able to provide total solutions from design and development
work to manufacturing of customised cables and connector
that requires high level of engineering expertise,"
said Ang.
Ang said the company's customers were mainly
in next generation broadband network products, multimedia
and data satellite products, storage devices and professional
audio equipment and personal computer peripherals.
